Jibo is a table-top robot conceived by pioneering social roboticist Cynthia Breazeal. Jibo can perform household tasks like deliver messages, take group photos, and enable video chat. Jibo uniquely recognizes and relates to people through responsive gestures and voice.
Function provided mechanical design to bring Jibo to life. The segmented rotating form provides the desired posability, using smoothly-operating, quiet mechanisms to avoid interference with voice recognition. Slip rings allow endless rotation of segments without twisting cables. The enclosure design carefully considers ID goals and the critical performance of sensors, cameras, mics, and speakers.
