GlideTV’s mission is to simplify the living room computing experience. For an initial product, the startup wanted to create an elegant input device that combined the functionality of a keyboard, mouse and AV remote. The Navigator is a “couch mouse” that fits the palm of the hand and lets people access entertainment over the Internet via TV and Home Theater PC (HTPC).
Function Engineering supported the Navigator development from concept through to production ramp. The design includes a custom mechanism to ensure the touchpad surface remains parallel regardless of where the pad is pressed. The contoured dock helps orient the device to the charging contacts. Attention to fit and finish was critical to provide the appropriate quality perception.
