Google wanted to demonstrate the potential of the Android Accessory Development Kit (ADK) when it launched at 2011’s Google I/O developer conference. Google envisioned a mammoth Android accessory to get hardware developers and hobbyists to “think big” about new applications.
Function supported Google in the development of an ADK-enabled, Android tablet-controlled giant labyrinth game. The giant labyrinth is a 20 x 16-foot tilting maze based on the classic tabletop toy but scaled to use a bowling ball. In six weeks, Function designed, analyzed, prototyped, and tested the labyrinth before it was installed in San Francisco’s Moscone Center.
