Unlike traditional LCD projectors which use transmissive light through TFT-based LCDs, S-VISION developed a new, more cost-effective display technology that captures high-intensity light reflected off an integrated circuit / micro-LCD display.

Function Engineering designed an entirely new projector based on this technology. A key challenge was to design a die-cast optic engine capable of handling 1000 watts of heat without distorting the optical train. Design components included the aluminum optics engine and chassis, precision optical alignment mechanism, vibration isolation from fans and thermal shields for heat lamp.
